In January 2023, upon moving to New York, Ruchir served as the music director, pianist, and conductor for TheatreWorksUSA’s premiere and mini-tour of Dot Dot Dot: A New Musical based on the children’s books by Peter H. Reynolds. The process included a developmental workshop where Ruchir worked intensively to make the piece come to life in the vision of the writers and director.

In the summers of 2021 & 2022, Ruchir served as a music director and music assistant at Maine State Music Theatre, located in Brunswick, Maine, for his first job following graduation from Northwestern. There, he arranged charts for concerts for veteran Broadway actors, served as the assistant music director/Keyboard 2 on MSMT’s Equity productions of Jersey Boys, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Sound of Music, and made his professional music direction and piano/conducting debut with Robin & Clarke’s Beauty & The Beast.

Ruchir served as the Music Director and piano conducted Imagine U‘s production of the Emperor’s New Clothes, directed by Amanda Tanguay. “One of the things that’s exciting about this production (is) it provides a way to get young people excited about musical theater and how impactful storytelling can be in this form,” the music director and Communication junior Ruchir Khazanchi said. Ruchir contributed as the Associate Music Director for Next to Normal.
