Ruchir served as the Music Director and piano conducted Imagine U‘s production of the Emperor’s New Clothes, directed by Amanda Tanguay. “One of the things that’s exciting about this production (is) it provides a way to get young people excited about musical theater and how impactful storytelling can be in this form,” the music director and Communication junior Ruchir Khazanchi said. The 89th Waa-Mu Show presented an original musical “State Of The Art” completely digitally during the Covid-19 pandemic. State of the Art thus became the first-ever new musical to be presented live over Zoom to an international audience. Ruchir was a writing coordinator for the show and collaborated or led the writing on many of the musical’s original songs. Song credits are on the program.

For the Northwestern Class of 2020 School of Communication Digital Convocation, Ruchir collaboratively wrote the music & lyrics to “How Far” along with Emmet Smith. The song was performed by the graduating class of Musical Theatre Certificate students.

“Dreams, loss, climbing toward the stars on string lights. In the face of an environmental crisis, three grieving siblings are tasked with holding their island and family together. When Lil decides to take drastic action in hopes of finding their mother or at the very least, some answers, the limits of their world are tested.Through collaborative music, words, and movement this heartfelt story celebrates the power of a child’s dreams and the risks we will take to care for our community.”
